Lymphedema massage therapy available in Butler

Lymphedema is a medical issue that breast cancer patients often have to deal with in conjunction with normal treatments.

According to Butler Health System, there is a way you can combat it effectively and accessibly — massage therapy.

Lymphedema is seen primarily in breast cancer patients who receive mastectomies, or even patients who have lymph nodes removed. The condition occurs when lymphatic vessels are missing, impaired or damaged.

The health system website said treatment of Lymphedema is a combination of superficial massage, compression bandaging, exercise, skin care and compression garments.
