Scoop chasing perfection

We're halfway through the regular season and after going 10-1 in Week 1, I've muddled through mediocre to decent efforts. This bird needs to spread its wings and fly high above just being average.

I was 8-2 last week, bringing my record for the season to 41-13. Week 6 has some challenging games. I'm weary and frustrated, but more determined than ever to have that elusive perfect performance.

Seneca Valley at Butler — This is the first meeting between these teams since 2019. The Golden Tornado have been really impressive during their current three-game winning streak, but a resurgent SV defense will be the difference.

Score: Seneca Valley 25-13

Mars at Highlands — It seems only a very good, balanced team can take down the red-hot Planets right now. That team is the unbeaten Golden Rams.

Score: Highlands 22-17

Knoch at Deer Lakes — The winless Knights have come close to tasting victory several times this season. The wait ends Friday.

Score: Knoch 19-16

Freeport at Shady Side Academy — The Yellowjackets open conference play with a bang on the road. Their defense will once again lead the way.

Score: Freeport 35-10

North Catholic at Armstrong — Cadin Olsen and a high-flying Armstrong offense will be too much for the Trojans to overcome.

Score: Armstrong 34-13

Karns City at Central Clarion — One of several nail-biters on this week's slate. The most crucial plays will belong to the Wildcats.

Score: Central Clarion 26-22

Bradford at Moniteau — Neither team is having a good season, but the Warriors are the stronger and more physical team. That makes this an easy pick for me.

Score: Moniteau 30-18

Slippery Rock at Hickory — The Rockets were 3-0 at one point before losing the last two games. They will get things right against the Hornets.

Score: Slippery Rock 33-19

Union/A-C Valley at Redbank Valley — The defending District 9 champion Bulldogs will remain undefeated in this clash with the Falcon Knights.

Score: Redbank Valley 31-17

South Side at Summit Academy — The Rams have allowed just 26 points all season — bad news for the Knights.

Score: South Side 42-8

Scoop's eager for a strong second half to the season.
