High school roundup

Macrina Robb scored a pair of goals Saturday as the Knoch girls soccer team defeated Gateway, 3-2.

Emma Slusser also scored for the Knights, who built a 3-0 lead before hanging on for the win.

Avonworth 4, Karns City 0 — The Gremlins were shut out and will look to rebound Monday at Clarion.

Boys Golf

Mars took first place in the recent MAC Tournament at Fox Run Golf Course.

The Planets tallied 229 in topping a field of 24 teams. Ryan Steigerwald tied for second overall with a 74 for Mars. Blake Bertolo carded a 75 for third place and William Campbell tied for 15th with an 80.

Girls Golf

Paige Ponteous took medalist honors with a 45 as Butler defeated Shaler, 186-225, Friday. The Golden Tornado finished second in the section. They will compete in the WPIAL Individual Qualifiers Wednesday at Buffalo Golf Course.

The WPIAL team playoffs are Oct. 13 at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
