Trail work day scheduled
A volunteer work day has been scheduled for the Butler-Freeport Community Trail from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.
Volunteers will meet in Cabot at the caboose parking lot at Helmbold and Center avenues.
Work to be done includes clearing out weeds for a future pollinator project, trimming trees, installing electric in the pavilion and caboose and general cleanup.
Volunteers can bring string trimmers, chain saws, shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, gloves, water and safety glasses.
Chris Ziegler, president of the trail association, also said volunteer opportunities are available for the Oct. 15 Buffalo Creek Half Marathon, which is the trail’s biggest annual fundraiser.
