Garrett Risch’s tally in overtime sealed Freeport’s first boys soccer win of the season, a 2-1 victory at Leechburg on Tuesday.
Isaac Wetzel had the score in regulation for the Yellowjackets (1-3, 1-2) while Ethan Rapp earned the win in net with eight saves.
Knoch 3, Jeannette 1 — Caleb Oskin and Orrin Milcic both registered a goal and an assist against the Jayhawks.
Sam Caldwell also had a marker, while Anthony Lajevic added an assist.
The Knights improved to 2-1 overall and in section play.
Slippery Rock 5, Mercer 2 — Nick Kingerski scored three times and Hunter Berry added two scores as the Rockets (3-2) topped the Mustangs.
Boys Golf
Lucas Bruns (34) and Tyler Garvin (38) had sub-40 scores for Seneca Valley as it beat North Hills, 197-227, at Shannopin Country Club.
Dante Rossetti carded a 41 for the Raiders, while both Payton Brown and Casey Clawson shot a 42.
Butler’s 196 topped Fox Chapel (200) and Mars (212) in a tri-match held at Hiland Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.
Paige Ponteous shot a 44 to lead the Golden Tornado.
Mars was paced by Emily Cronin’s 49.

Karns City’s Chloe Fritch and Moniteau’s Jacob Felsing both carded a 40 to finish in a three-way tie for second place in a KSAC Mega Match at Aubrey’s Dubbs Dred Golf Course.
Clarion’s McKayla Kerle also fired a 40 to place one stroke behind Kam Kerle, also of Clarion.
Moniteau also received a 41 from Dawson Wallace and a 44 from Connor Ealy.
Kiski Area 203, Freeport 213 — The Yellowjackets lost for the first time this season, falling to the Cavaliers at Buffalo Golf Course.
Lillie Snow paced Freeport (8-1) with a 40.

Girls Volleyball
Cassidy Dell tallied 19 points, 22 assists and five kills to lead Freeport to a 3-0 win over Apollo-Ridge. Match scores were 25-10, 25-15, 25-7.
Josie Russo had nine kills for the Yellowjackets, who opened section play. Leah Schreckengost had five kills, Sydney Selker 10 points and two kills, Ava Soilis 25 digs.
Freeport hosts Deer Lakes Thursday night.
Butler 3, Fox Chapel 1 — Audrey Lehman and Hannah Fertig led the way for the Golden Tornado, who won in four sets by scores of 25-19, 25-14, 19-25, and 25-16.
Lehman had eight kills, three blocks and a dozen digs. Fertig added eight kills and 11 digs.
Karns City 3, North Clarion 2 — The Gremlins outlasted the Wolves by scores of 25-13, 25-23, 15-25, 21-25 and 15-12.
Rosalie Carden contributed five kills, seven assists, nine digs and three aces to the victory.
Ava Fox added eight kills and eight digs and Kendall Ritzert five assists and five digs.
Moniteau 3, Forest Area 0 — For the Warriors, Abbey Jewart had seven assists, seven aces, and a kill while her team swept three sets — 25-8, 25-6, 25-15.
Marissa Pry had five kills, six aces, and a block. Sophia Fleeger turned in two kills and six assists.
