SV golfers top P-R by 3 strokes

By a 195-198 decision. Seneca Valley’s boys golf team came out on top in a matchup with Pine-Richland Wednesday.

Lucas Bruns and Dante Rossetti finished with a team-best 37 for the Raiders, while the Rams saw a 38 out of Rodger Williams.

Freeport 211, Knoch 212 — Mitch Davies earned medalist honors with a 38 for Knoch, but Freeport (3-0, 4-0) came away with the one-stroke win at Saxon. Stephen Evans paced the Yellowjackets with a 40.

North Allegheny 184, Butler 188 — Hunter Swidzinski led the Golden Tornado (1-2, 3-2) with a 36 in this match at North Park. Colin Wang led North Allegheny with a 34.

Moniteau’s girls cruised to victory in the Mega Match heldf at Foxburg Country Club. The Warriors shot a 152, beating Cranberry by 19 strokes. Keystone finished third.

The Warriors’ Emma Covert led all golfers with a 47. Kendall Sankey took fourth with a 52 while Moniteau’s Mariska Shunk and Autumn Stewart, along with ACV/Union’s Evie Bliss, shot a 53 for fifth place. The Warriors’ Taylor Voloch shot a 58 for sixth.

Tuesday

Moniteau’s Jacob Felsing fired a 39 in a KSAC Mega Match at Hi-Level Golf Course.

The effort led the Warriors to a third-place finish out of nine teams with 215 strokes. Clarion won as a team with 196 strokes and North Clarion’s Zeelan Hargenrader carded a 33 to place first individually.

Also scoring for Moniteau were Dawson Wallace (40), Connor Ealy (42), Chason Rugg (44) and Cade Barger (50).

A-C Valley/Union was paced by a 43 from Hudson Bliss and Evie Bliss added a 47.

Chloe Fritch carded a 40 for Karns City.

Armstrong 205, Butler (girls) 212 — The Golden Tornado (1-1, 3-2) dropped this match despite Paige Ponteous getting medalist honors with a 45. Butler takes on Kiski Area at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at River Forest Country Club.
