One woman flown after ATV crash in Callery
A 61-year-old Callery woman was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital Saturday evening after she suffered injuries in an ATV crash.
State police released a report later Saturday night regarding the crash that sent Candace F. Sheffer to UPMC Presbyterian by medical helicopter.
Police, firefighters and EMS were dispatched at 6:23 p.m. to the area of 262 Main St. in the borough.
Police said Sheffer was the only person on the Yamaha Grizzly 700 at the time of the crash.
“(She) was negotiating a right-hand curve before losing control of the vehicle, traveling off the roadway and overturning,” police said. “(The ATV) overturned several times before coming to final rest with minor damage.”
Police said though the ATV sustained minor damage, they suspected Sheffer of having serious injury, though the nature of those injuries were not detailed in the report.
During the response to the incident, dispatchers at one point updated EMTs that the patient had possible head trauma.
In the release, police noted they are continuing to investigate the crash.
Dispatch records show Callery and Adams Township fire departments responded as well as Quality EMS. The crews cleared the scene around 7:40 p.m.
