Knoch High students learn about state government

Knoch High School’s Youth & Government team traveled to Harrisburg in April to participate in the State YMCA Pennsylvania Youth & Government Model Convention.

The 13 students learned about the intricate workings of the state government, modeled the sponsoring of a mock bill to be signed into “law” by the Youth Governor, argued judicial cases as mock attorneys and wrote articles for the press corps.

They also took many pictures, networked with Youth & Government team members from other school districts and made lasting friendships during their four days in the state capital.

Senior Kevin Golden won the Samantha Condrick Spirit Award, senior Cale Patten was nominated to the National Judicial Convention in Minnesota and sophomore Lara Ejzak was nominated to the Conference of National Affairs in North Carolina this summer.
