Canning season is approaching and, if you have a dial gauge pressure canner, it’s important to have it checked for accuracy each year. Accurate pressure is critical for safe processing of foods.

Dial pressure gauge testing will be available at the Penn State Extension Butler County office, 101 Motor Pool Way, from 9 to 11 a.m. May 25 and June 24. An appointment is required.

If you cannot attend at this time, schedule a time to drop off your dial gauge pressure canner lid prior to one of the test dates. You will be notified when testing is complete.

The testing is available at no charge.
