SR church to mark National Day of Prayer
SLIPPERY ROCK — St. John’s United Methodist Church, 244 Halston Road, will have a 7 p.m. service Thursday to mark the National Day of Prayer.
The National Day of Prayer is held yearly on the first Thursday in May; it invites people to pray for the nation. It was signed into law in 1952 by President Harry S. Truman, with a goal to “mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families,” according to the National Day of Prayer website.
The service at St. John’s is open to everyone.
