Seneca Valley hires transportation director

John Demkowicz is the new director of transportation at the Seneca Valley School District, according to a news release from the district.

Demkowicz served as operations supervisor at Monark Student Transportation Corp. in Gibsonia before becoming the supervisor of transportation and custodial services for the Quaker Valley School District in Allegheny County.

He served in the latter position for 12 years, where he gained valuable experience in multiple transportation software, processes for state reports and strategic communication strategies.

Demkowicz also has experience in coordinating emergency responses impacting the safety of district facilities and community roads, according to the release.

Demkowicz attended college in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Illinois and is involved in the state Association of School Business Officials, among other organizations.

He replaces Jim Pearson, who will retire this summer after 11 years at the district.

Demkowicz lives in Moon Township, Allegheny County, with his wife, two daughters and dog.
