Man charged related to Bradys Bend shooting
An Armstrong County man was arrested and accused of firing multiple shots at two men on his property in Bradys Bend Township last week.
State police from the Kittanning barracks filed charges Thursday morning against Braden T. Stevenson, 23, including two felony counts each of robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felony theft, as well as one felony count of illegally possessing a gun.
He also is charged with two misdemeanor counts each of simple assault, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment.
Stevenson was not in custody when charges were filed Thursday morning, and a heavy police presence surrounded a mobile home park on Iron Furnace Road in Bradys Bend Township. Police remained in the area for a couple hours before leaving abruptly.
Stevenson was arraigned at 5:45 p.m. Thursday before District Judge Kevin L. McCausland, who set his bond at $75,000. Stevenson remains in Armstrong County Jail.
According to charging documents, police were dispatched at 11:14 p.m. Wednesday to the mobile home park, where residents reported shots being fired.
Police said two men claimed they had driven from Butler to spend time with Stevenson at his home, but when they arrived, Stevenson fired shots at them. Police said both men fled on foot, and Stevenson stole one of the men’s SUV and fled the scene.
Police said they recovered multiple shell casings from the scene.
In November, Stevenson was placed on probation after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of child endangerment, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and drug paraphernalia possession in Armstrong County Common Pleas Court. He was sentenced to jail time in that case
Stevenson has two pending cases in Armstrong County court. One was filed July 26, and it includes two misdemeanor counts each of terroristic threats and simple assault.
The other was filed Sept. 2 and included felony counts of burglary, theft, possessing stolen property, trespassing and conspiracy to commit burglary, among others. In this case, Stevenson was released on $100,000 unsecured bond that held conditions. It is unclear if he violated those conditions with his most recent arrest.
Stevenson is scheduled to appear April 20 for a preliminary hearing before District Judge James H. Owen in Kittanning, Armstrong County.
