Foley earns silver
For the second straight season, North Catholic’s Maggie Foley placed runner-up in the state to Marple Newtown’s Alexandra Pastris in the PIAA Class 2A Girls Diving Championship at Bucknell University Saturday afternoon.
Foley totaled 420.55 points in her 11 dives. Pastris finished with 431.65.
Foley, a junior and three-time WPIAL champion, held a slim lead over Pastris after the first round, but the latter moved ahead with her three semifinal dives.
In the girls swimming meet, Freeport’s Alexis Schrecongost and Knoch’s Giona Lavorini placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the breaststroke with times of 1:05.16 and 1:05.21.
In boys swimming action, North Catholic's 400 freestyle relay team of Matthew Littleton, Jackson Kress, John Lamb and Julian LaPietra placed third with a time of 3:12.63.
Kress added a fifth-place swim in the backstroke at 52.37.
The efforts helped the Trojans amass 122 points and place third in the team standings behind Riverside (148) and Cathedral Prep (196).
