Moniteau junior Katie Reott used a personal-best time of 24.17 seconds to tie for fifth place in the state in the 50-yard freestyle at Friday's PIAA Class 2A Swimming Championships at Bucknell University.
The time was identical to Nicole Iriza of Scranton Prep. Reott, who is Moniteau’s first-ever state medalist in swimming, advanced to the PIAA meet by winning a District 9 crown in the event earlier this month with a time of 24.54.
Freeport freshman Kira Schrecongost was part of three medal swims. She placed seventh in the butterfly (57.01), eighth in the 200 IM (2:11.01) and was part of the Yellowjackets' 200 medley relay team that finished sixth with a time of 1:49.67.
The quartet also included Caitlyn Brennan, Alexis Schrecongost and Isabelle Barton.
In the boys meet, North Catholic earned a pair of medals in relay events. The Trojans' foursome of Luke Lamb, John Lamb, Matthew Littleton, Julian LaPietra placed fourth with a time of 1:38.83.
Littleton, Jackson Kress, John Lamb and Jonah LaPietra finished sixth at 1:29.06.
