Knoch raises funds, awareness on inclusion
One lucky South Butler School District principal will get a soaking March 25 as a result of a very special fundraiser.
Knoch High School’s Best Buddies program, in which special education students are paired with a “best buddy” student, is holding its Polar Plop and Spread the Word programs this week and next week throughout the district.
To spread awareness about inclusion, Best Buddies is asking students in every grade level to bring in donations for Special Olympics.
Best Buddies will count the funds raised in each classroom or homeroom March 21 and 22.
On March 25, the winning room will carry out the Polar Plop, in which students will pop a water-filled balloon over the building principal’s head.
In the Spread the Word campaign, students will wear themed clothes each day during Spirit Week next week to remind them of the importance of inclusion at school.
