Butler’s Rocco Rice and Freeport’s Colin Cummings advanced to next weekend’s PA State Bowling Championships by placing among the top 12 at Thursday’s Western Regional held at North Versailles.
Cummings finished seventh, putting together a five-game series of 1,008, including games of 244 and 220. Rice placed eighth with a series of 996. He had games of 255 and 223, the former tying for the highest game of the day.
Rice lost to eventual regional champion Mike Mullaney of Greensburg Central Catholic in the first round of the stepladder portion of the tournament.
Butler’s Luke Keene finished 21st with a 234-906, Alex Ekas 28th with a 202-897, Eric Devore 35th with a 204-870, Brock Hepler 39th with a 207-859 and Marty Imhof 45th with a 203-838.
