United Way offers free tax prep
United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania will offer a free, in-person, virtual and drop-off tax preparation program through April 14.
The program is for hardworking, low-income residents to receive maximum refunds without hidden fees. IRS-certified volunteers will help with filing, applying tax credits and taking care of additional steps due to unemployment and Child Tax Credit benefits.
Assistance from a tax preparer is available to residents in Butler, Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties for individuals with a total income of up to $38,000 and families with a total annual income up to $58,000. Virtual assistance is available for individuals and families with an income up to $66,000. Do-it-yourself online tax assistance is available for individual families regardless of income.
