James McCue Sr.

James Frances McCue Sr., known as Jim, 87, husband to Alice McCue, father to seven children and grandfather to 16 grandchildren, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022.

Jim was a dedicated, hardworking and loving man, whose life revolved around his wife, sons and grandchildren.

Jim and Alice famously gave all seven of their sons names starting with a “J” (Jim Jr., John, Joe, Jeff, Jerry, Jason and Justin).

Jim was born, raised and lived most of his life in Butler, where he worked and retired from Armco Steel after 30 years.

Before working at Armco Steel, Jim served in the U.S. Air Force.

Having a large family meant that his spare time went toward working extra jobs to provide for his family throughout the years, including starting his own business, McCue’s Auto Machine Shop. Raising seven sons was a lifetime commitment that included the great accomplishment of having all seven children graduate with college degrees.

Jim lived a very active life, where he loved to golf, bowl and roller skate with his family and friends. Outside of his hobbies, his time was devoted to attending his grandchildren’s graduations and sporting events. Jim was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, and he loved watching the Steelers and Pirates.

Over the last couple years, Jim courageously fought through two major strokes which degraded his speech and mobility, until he passed peacefully.

Jim will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, husband and grandfather.

Jim and Alice were happily married for 64 years, and will continue on in their afterlife.
