Indoor records fall

Butler and Slippery Rock broke some respective school records during their participation in a high school indoor track and field meet hosted by Youngstown State University over the weekend.

The Golden Tornado’s Guinness Brown placed second in the 60 meters while setting a school record of 7.02 seconds. He also took second in the 200 meters in 22.06 seconds, the fastest time in the state so far this season.

Butler’s 4x400 relay team of Lucas Slear, Ryder Kriley, Presley Ornelas and Brown ran a time of 3 minutes, 26.90 seconds, setting a school record and finishing first in the meet.

Though he finished second in the 3,200 meters, C.J. Singleton lowered his own school record to 9 minutes, 2.23 seconds. He finished Saturday’s race behind Josh Edwards of University (W.Va.) High School. Edwards is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the event and will be running at Oregon next year.
