New charges arise from threatening texts while no-contact bond was in place

Bradley Borg

A Lyndora man, who is accused in multiple cases of abusing his girlfriend, received new charges Tuesday related to a violation of no-contact conditions of his bond.

“I’ll be back to finish you (expletive). Better keep a look out for me,” said one of the texts referenced in charging documents.

Buffalo Township Police filed new charges against Bradley Borg, 32, including felony intimidation of a witness and misdemeanor terroristic threats and harassment.

Borg remains in Butler County Prison on a combined $40,000 bond between two other cases in which he is accused of beating his then-girlfriend.

District Judge Sue Haggerty increased Borg’s bond to its current amount after the texts referenced in the most recent charges were brought to her attention by prosecutors at a Jan. 12 preliminary hearing in the other two cases.

Borg’s other two cases cumulatively involve charges of felony aggravated assault and strangulation as well as misdemeanor simple assault, unlawful restraint, terroristic threats and resisting arrest.

According to the new charging documents, police claim Borg either directly or indirectly used the texts to intimidate the girlfriend.

Police said they attributed the Jan. 9 texts to Borg himself, although no phone numbers or evidence of that link were noted in the affidavit. However, according to documents, all four messages, sent within the same 30 minutes, are written from the first-person perspective.

Another of the messages questioned whether the woman was afraid, and another claimed the woman deserved the beating and told her to watch out.

“I don’t need any help. The only help I need is to beat u so (you) can’t walk ever again (expletive),” said the final message.

Borg waived his right to preliminary hearings in his existing cases, and the formal arraignment for those have been set for March 8 in the Butler County Common Pleas Court.

Borg has yet to be arraigned on the new charges. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled after that takes place.
