Football teams set for playoffs

Seven Butler County-area high school football teams have made the playoffs, though five of them will not be in action this week:

Class 6A — Seneca Valley (7-3) will play Central Catholic (8-2) in a semifinal at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Baldwin High School.Class 3A — Freeport (5-4) will host Ambridge (2-8) in a first-round game at 7 p.m. Friday.North Catholic (10-0) received a bye into the quarterfinals Nov. 12, when the Trojans will face the winner of Friday's game between Keystone Oaks and South Allegheny. The quarterfinal game will be played at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Mars Athletic Complex.

Class 2A — Karns City (9-1) is the top seed and will meet Central Clarion (4-5) in a semifinal Nov. 12 or 13 at a neutral site to be determined.Class 1A — Union/A-C Valley (7-2) will take on Cameron County (5-4) in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Friday in Rimersburg.

Class 6A — Butler (5-4) will meet McDowell (7-2) in the championship game Nov. 12 or 13 at a site and time to be determined.Class 3A — Slippery Rock (6-1) earned the top seed and will play in a semifinal Nov. 13 against the winner of Saturday's game between Sharon and Hickory.
