Knoch girls tennis advances
Knoch's girls tennis team punched its ticket to the PIAA Class 2A quarterfinals in Hershey with a 3-2 victory over Villa Maria Tuesday in Erie.
The Knights (12-2) swept the singles matches as Ally Bauer, Emily Greb and Lindsey Greb all won in straight sets.
Knoch's only two losses this year have come to Fox Chapel in the regular season and Sewickley Academy in the WPIAL championship match.
The quarterfinals take place Friday.

Amanda Lewis scored her 23rd goal of the season as Slippery Rock advanced to the District 10 semifinals with a 3-1 win over Harbor Creek.Eve Miller netted her 11th goal of the campaign and Emma Hays her 10th for the Rockets (14-4). Ava Daughtery had five saves in goal.Slippery Rock will play Villa Maria in the semifinal round Monday at a site and time to be determined.North Catholic 10, Waynesburg 0 — Jayden Sharpless and Angelina Berkey both scored two goals as the Trojanettes rolled into the WPIAL Class 2A quarterfinals.North, the defending WPIAL champion, will face Yough, a 3-1 winner over Deer Lakes, Saturday.
Meah Ielase had 16 kills and 22 digs, but A-C Valley's season ended Tuesday night with a 3-1 District 9 Class 1A playoff loss to Otto-Eldred.Scores were 25-22, 25-27, 22-25, 22-25.Lexi Ruckdeschel tallied 13 points, four kills and four blocks, Paige Klingler and Bailey Blauser six kills each, Jennifer Stefanacci 28 assists and 16 digs, Mackenzie Parks 18 digs for the Falcons (9-7).
Parker Worsley scored a goal and added two assists as Butler defeated Mars, 4-3. Kyle Grasha added a goal and assist.Owen Denny and Colton Gregory had a goal each while Brody Simko had two assists.
