Butler Health System offering Pfizer boosters

Seniors, some adults eligible

In the ongoing battle against COVID-19, the Butler Health System has begun offering Pfizer booster shots at the vaccine clinic on the first floor of its Crossroads Campus on Oneida Valley Road.

The booster shots are available to health care workers, people 65 and older, residents of long-term care facilities, people between 50 and 64 years old with underlying medical conditions, and people ages 18 to 49 with underlying medical conditions based on their individual risks.

Boosters for those groups of people were recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week.

The recommended time frame to receive a Pfizer booster is at least six months after the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Boosters have not been approved for individuals in the 16- to 18-year-old age group.

Individuals interested in scheduling a booster or first dose should visit www.butlerhealthsystem.org. People without a computer should contact the Butler County Center for Community Resources at 888-550-7468 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The vaccine clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

At Butler Memorial Hospital, hallway visitation for COVID-19 patients will be limited to one person for 15 minutes per visitation session.

The Clarion Hospital Vaccine Clinic is administering COVID-19 vaccines in the Short Procedure Unit. Patients will enter the hospital through the main entrance and will be directed on where to go.
