Joseph Acquaviva
Joseph Acquaviva of Wells, Maine, passed away July 31, 2021, following a lengthy illness.
Joe was born Sept. 27, 1941, in Butler, and was the son of the late Joseph Acquaviva and his surviving mother, Mary Glaviano Acquaviva.
Joe graduated from Butler High School, and went on to earn an associate degree at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. His artistic ability provided him with the opportunity to work for the New York Times as a layout artist, before moving on to Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut. Joe moved to Maine to become co-owner of the Black Swan Tavern in Ogunquit. Currently, Joe remained active working at the Lafayette's Oceanfront Resort at Wells Beach, where his involvement was more a labor of love than a job.
Joe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wells, and a 30-year volunteer at the Ogunquit Playhouse, never missing a performance. He particularly cherished his time with family and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his life partner, Richard Belanger, with whom he spent the greater part of his life.
