James F. “Hunkie” Dawson, 70, of Rimersburg, passed away Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at his home.

He was born June 14, 1956, in Tarentum, Allegheny County, the son of the late Charles R. Dawson and Dorothy (Berz) Acre.

Jim was a 1975 graduate of Knoch High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a machinist with ESM Industries for many years.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and treasured the time he spent with his beloved wife, Margie, especially taking walks and hiking together on local trails. Known for his generous heart, Jim was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be remembered for his warm personality, kind spirit and wonderful sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Margie (Bowser) Dawson; his brothers, Edward (Kathy) Dawson, of Valencia, and John (Michelle) Dawson, of Saxonburg; sisters, Elma Sutej, of Saxonburg, and Martha Bowser (Robert Browne Sr.), of Butler; sister-in-law, Luella Dawson, of Saxonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roy Dawson; and brother-in-law, Thomas Sutej.

DAWSON — Family and friends of James F. “Hunkie” Dawson, who died Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at BAUER-HILLIS FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 758 Main St., Rimersburg, with the Rev. Mark Deeter officiating.
