Resumption of Tradition: Graduations from the 2021 season

The commencement ceremonies of Freeport and Moniteau high schools brought an end to the 2021 high school graduation season. It was a return to commencements attended in person by the family and friends of the graduates.
Last year's graduations, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing guidelines, took a number of novel forms. Some, such as Butler High School, broadcast its commencement and handed out diplomas over three days. Slippery Rock Area High School had its commencement at the Starlight Drive-In in Center Township.
Receiving a diploma on a stage surrounded by classmates was yet another sign life was slowly getting back to normal.
