SV volleyball in WPIAL final
Junior Nate DeGraaf posted 12 kills and three blocks to help Seneca Valley roll into the WPIAL Class 3A boys volleyball final with a sweep of Penn-Trafford at Fox Chapel High School Tuesday night.
Coleman McDonough tallied 17 digs, Evan Howley 38 assists, Dawson Ward and JT McCarthy both 10 kills.
Michael Devlin added nine kills for the Raiders, who defeated the Warriors by scores of 25-16, 28-26 and 25-19.
Seneca Valley (15-2) will face North Allegheny (14-0) for the WPIAL championship at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Chapel.
North Catholic 3, Ambridge 0 — The Trojans (17-2) advanced to the WPIAL Class 2A final with a 25-19, 25-11, 25-22 sweep of the Bridgers at North Allegheny High School.
Richard Kaminski totaled 10 kills and 15 assists and Andrew Ubinger 15 kills and nine assists for North, which will take on Seton LaSalle in the WPIAL final at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Chapel High School.
Slippery Rock's season came to an end with a 2-1 District 10 playoff loss to Jamestown at Slippery Rock University.Jamestown scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Rockets end the season with an 8-12 record.
