Mars Area School Board approved a number of items Tuesday night, including:
- A roughly $9,990 Lefcon Grant donation from Jim Lefcakis to support elementary STEAM instruction.
- Dave Goodworth as a weight room supervisor, with a $1,575 stipend.
- Dave Goodworth, Brian Hobaugh, Scott Heinauer, Scott Pfeiffer, Dave Mayer, Dave Kuremsky, Andy Bednar, Brian Staines, Chris Knauff, Cameron Frank, Nathan Lyons, Joe Haefner, Matt White, Khaled Haddad, Karen Wolf, Rich Schoeffel, Ethan Myler, Ralph Jockel, Chris Jockel, Mark Varlotta, Mike DelDuca, Tami Caraway, Joe Cioc, Scott Bowes, Joe Joswiak, Jason Thompson, Kent Bloom and Michele Goodworth as various athletic supervisors, with undisclosed stipends.
- Kent Bloom, Chris Protho, Dermot Pope and Lara Caraway as various athletic volunteers.
- The resignations of Ashley Golias and Jeannie Caffro.
- Christine Cherry as a bus monitor for A.J. Myers.
- Candice Moser’s transfer from the middle school to the high school.
- An unnamed employee for family medical leave.
- Christie Milano as a paraprofessional, with salary and benefits totaling $28,655.
- Six unnamed students to take courses this summer or next school year.
- The following curriculum material purchases were also approved:
- The “Discovering Our Past” book series at about $29,970 for 6 years
- The “U.S. History Beg to 1877” book series at about $25,721 for 6 years
- The “U.S. History: Survey Edition” book series at about $69,283 for 6 years
- The “World History and Geography” book series at about $23,293 for 6 years
- The “A History of Western Society” book series at about $18,684 for 6 years
- “The Study of Human Relationships” book series at $13,770 for 6 years
- The “Principles in Practice” book series at about $13,777 for 6 years
- “The Language of Composition” book series at about $22,916 for 6 years
- A pilot 1-year program of MyPerspectives at no cost to the district.
The board met in executive session before and after the meeting for legal and personnel matters.
