COVID-19 case moves A-C Valley students online
Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District students transitioned to remote learning late last week as administrators reacted to one positive and one probable case of COVID-19.
Superintendent David McDeavitt announced Wednesday that the junior and senior high school buildings would be closed for the remainder of the week. Students were to instead report to classes through distance learning Thursday and Friday.
He followed up the next day by closing the elementary building for Friday, moving the younger students also to a virtual setting.
“As we get further into the contact tracing, it is evident that there are contacts in the elementary school, and we need additional time to complete this work,” McDeavitt said in a message posted to the district’s website.
The district intends to resume face-to-face instruction Monday, the superintendent said Friday afternoon.
