Traffic impacts expected on Freedom Road
Cranberry Township motorists can expect traffic impacts on Freedom Road beginning Friday night and extending through Tuesday.
According to PennDOT, weekend road construction will affect traffic on Freedom Road between Haine School Road and Commonwealth Drive beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, with daylight operations Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.
The work being completed is a continuation of the Freedom Road project. PennDOT says drivers can expect short-term traffic control during utility relocation, but much of the work will be on the shoulders of the road.
Registration will soon open for Zelienople Historical Society’s Patriotic Porch Tour.
Residents and businesses in Zelienople Borough can begin registering their properties May 3 to participate in the tour, with the registration deadline set for June 18.
The historical society aims to unite the borough in a spirit of patriotism with its porch tour, which is slated to run July 1 through 8. During the tour, residents and visitors can vote on their favorite patriotic decorations in homes, yards and storefronts.
Beginning July 1, the historical society will make available maps with ballots showing which buildings are participating in the tour, and a kick-off picnic complete with hot dogs, music and ceremonies will occur that day on the Passavant House grounds.
Four awards are available, with the first-, second- and third-place houses or businesses receiving monetary prizes, and another selection receiving the “People’s Choice” award.
Those interested can register by calling the historical society at 724-452-9457 weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon or by emailing the society at zeliehistory@zoominternet.net.
