PennDOT has announced construction will begin Monday on Benjamin Franklin Highway, specifically the portion of Route 422 over Route 3007, South Benbrook Road in Butler Township.
Route 422 will be affected approximately five miles northwest of Butler. Route 422 will have long-term lane restrictions beginning Monday night with work taking place during the day through the summer.
Additionally, PennDOT announced plans for construction on the Walls Memorial Bridge, Route 322 over the Clarion River, in Clarion Township, Clarion County. The project is also to begin Monday.
Route 322 will be affected approximately 1.5 miles northwest of Clarion. Route 322 will have short-term flagging from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning April 27.
Preservation of both existing bridge structures will include minor deck repair and other miscellaneous construction with intentions to improve the skid resistance on the structure, providing better traction for vehicles and safety for motorists.
Mekis Construction Corp. of Fenelton is completing these $821,876 projects.
Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidance and a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan.
