Mars council looks at repainting crosswalks

MARS — Council members discussed painting a few crosswalks in the borough at Monday night's meeting.

The topic was brought to the council after a resident left a message with the borough asking if the Crowe Avenue crosswalk behind Salvaged PGH could be repainted.

Tricia Madaffari, acting council secretary, said she discussed the matter with Ed Dorsey, public works director.

“He said that it's hard to paint it during the day because there's so much traffic on that road,” Madaffari said.

Dorsey said he'd ask the police department if police could repaint the area, according to Madaffari.

Council member Brad Price said a few crosswalks in the Crowe Avenue-Pittsburgh Street-Duncan Alley area need to be touched up.

“That's a really sort of dangerous intersection,” Price said.

Council members determined they would approach the police department for painting assistance, as long as the work is covered under the department's collective-bargaining agreement.
