Butler library offers internship

Local high school juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply for a paid internship opportunity at the Butler Area Public Library.

The library seeks a motivated, service-minded high school student between the ages of 16-19. The intern will be paired with a mentor from the library staff.

The position will be a hybrid of virtual and in-person work. When working in-person at the library or any library-related events, the intern must follow recommended COVID-19 protocols, including masking and disinfecting work areas.

Tiffany Harkleroad, youth services librarian and internship mentor, said this program provides teen interns with the opportunity to gain real work experience and to learn more about how the library operates.

The selected intern must be able to obtain a work permit, possess strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks, and have a passion for helping people. The intern must be willing to learn and develop new skills.

Interested students must complete an application and return it to the library no later than May 7. The application can be found on the library’s website, www.butlerlibrary.info or by emailing tharkleroad@bcfls.org.
