Muriel Joan (Raybuck) Hay

Muriel Joan (Raybuck) Hay, 89, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at her home surrounded by family and loved ones after a multiyear battle with cancer.

Muriel was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Butler, to Paul George Raybuck and Annie Rosanna (Eiffler) Raybuck.

She graduated from Butler High School in 1949, and was married Oct. 28, 1950, to Russell L. Hay, with whom she had seven children.

Muriel's passions in life were her relationship with the Lord, her children and grandchildren, and her various artistic talents, which she tried to pass on to her family and use to glorify God.

Muriel was a lifelong member of Summit Presbyterian Church, to which she devoted much of her time and talent. Through her years, she contributed her creative talents to the church, served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and elder, and through her example had an impact on countless people's lives.

In her younger years, she was also known for creating ornate wedding and event cakes for family and friends. She enjoyed photography and reading.

Her parting wish would be for all to come to know and serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Russell; an infant son, Drew Lorraine Hay; and her sister, Marilyn (Raybuck) Stamp of Evans City.

Surviving are six children, Phillip Hay (Peg) of Fenelton, Daniel Hay (Cindy) of Butler, Jennifer Henderson Suttor (Mike) of Butler, Lisa Seybert (Tim) of Butler, Paula Hay (Kevin Frye) of Butler, and Timothy Hay of Butler; seven grandchildren, Rick (Ginny) Bold, Drew (Gretchen) Hay, Rikki (Mike) Woodling, April (Jess) Bemish, Patty Hay, Shane (Lisa) Seybert and Kayleigh Seybert; 15 great-grandchildren, Josh Carlisle, Jordon Bold, Niven and Maddy Hay, Collette (Chris) Musati, Gabriel Stupka, Zachary and Ivy Woodling, Logan and Tanner Bemish, Timothy, Freya and Zora Seybert, Andrew Ramsey and James Gradwell; and one great-great-granddaughter, Harlee Musati.

She is also survived by a brother, Karl Raybuck of Mentor, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews.

HAY — Friends and family of Muriel Joan Hay, who died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, will be received for the viewing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, Butler, where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m.Arrangements are being handled by Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
