Woman in weekend car crash identified

State police have released the name of the driver injured in a weekend vehicle crash in Center Township that sent her to the hospital.

Linda M. Moskola, 55, of Butler, suffered moderate to serious injuries in the one-vehicle wreck around 4:35 p.m. Sunday on Unionville Road, authorities said.

Police said Moskola was traveling east when her Chevrolet Trailblazer drifted into the oncoming lane. She swerved to the right and drove off the south edge of the road, hitting a utility pole.

The SUV overturned and ended sideways in the westbound lane.

The Unionville Volunteer Fire Department responded, and firefighters helped Moskola out of her vehicle. The driver's side air bag deployed. It was not immediately known if she was wearing a seat belt.

Butler Ambulance Service also was called, and medics tended to her before they took her to Butler Memorial Hospital. Her condition was not available.

A portion of the road between Brown Road and Route 8 was closed for about 45 minutes to allow a tow truck to remove the badly damaged vehicle.

Authorities did not believe road or weather conditions were factors, and police said they are investigating the possibility that alcohol was involved in the wreck.
