Beighley near record as KC wins
Chase Beighley pulled within nine points of Karns City's all-time scoring record Friday night as the Gremlins defeated Brockway, 54-38, in boys basketball.
Beighley scored 24 points and had seven assists for the Gremlins. Tyler Callihan holds KC's career scoring mark of 1,554 points.
Nathan Waltman had a triple-double for KC (16-1), tallying 16 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists. Micah Rupp had 12 points, Luke Cramer nine points and 10 rebounds.

Knoch seniors Sam Freyermuth and Eli Reese qualified for the WPIAL Class AA Championships Friday night by placing second in their respective weight classes at the Section 3 tournament Friday night.Freyermuth took second at 189 pounds, defeating Ben Yeskey of Southmoreland 7-2 before dropping a 12-7 decision to Burrell's Cole Clark in the section finals.Reese finished second at 215, scoring a technical fall (17-2) over Anthony Govern of Southmoreland before dropping a 5-0 decision to Dayton Pitzer of Mount Pleasant.
Slippery Rock dropped a pair of meets to Oil City, the girls losing 105-58, the boys dropping an 83-19 decision.Several Rocket swimmers have qualified for the District 10 meet.
