Fleeger 50th anniversary
David H. and Ruth Ann Fleeger of Karns City celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family dinner in Karns City.
Fleeger married the former Ruth Ann McCloskey on Jan. 30, 1971, at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church in Meridian.
During their honeymoon to Niagara Falls, the falls were fully frozen over. They also traveled to New York City for a visit to “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.”
They have two children, Sharon Ann (Paul) Moyer, Karns City, and Zachary David (Taylor) Fleeger, North Conway, N.H.
They also have two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Fleeger retired after 40 years with the engineering department of Sonneborn.
He is a member of American Legion Post 642 and the VFW.
He is a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of Butler County Community College.
Mrs. Fleeger is a substitute paraprofessional for the Karns City Area School District. She was a former Butler Memorial Hospital personnel secretary and the former owner/operator of Tail Wagging Kennels. She was also a former secretary for the late State Sen. Don Oesterling.
She is a graduate of Robert Morris Junior College and a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
The Fleegers are members of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora.
