Center Twp. crash victims ID'd

A woman in her 60s was injured Monday during a vehicle accident at the intersection of West Sunbury Road and Harper Drive in Center Township. A second crash Monday in Center Township also resulted in injuries.

State police have released the names of the drivers in two vehicle crashes Monday in Center Township. Two of the drivers suffered injuries that required hospital treatment.

Sandra M. Hawryliak, 60, of Butler, was injured around 6:35 p.m., police said, when a pickup turned left in front of the car she was driving north on Route 8 at the entrance to the Clearview Mall.

Hawryliak was taken by Butler Ambulance Service to Butler Memorial Hospital with a minor head injury, authorities said. Raymond Heitzer, 71, of Butler, who was driving the pickup, apparently was not injured.The northbound lanes of Route 8 were closed for about an hour until the wrecked vehicles were towed. The Unionville and West Sunbury volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene.Police cited Heitzer for making an improper left turn.Approximately three hours before that wreck and about a mile away, police said, Marian N. McFarland, 66, of West Sunbury, was injured when she lost control of her car and crashed into a large rock off of Route 308.Police said McFarland was traveling south around 3:35 p.m. when her car crossed over the northbound lane and went off the road. Unionville volunteer firefighters had to use hydraulic tools to remove the driver's door and get her out of the badly damaged vehicle.She was taken by Butler Ambulance Service to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Her car was later towed.
