At their Wednesday, January 20 meeting, the Butler County Board of Commissioners:
- Approved the fees for Alameda Park shelter rentals, Alameda Water Park and various programs and athletic teams. Lance Welliver, county Parks and Recreation Department director, said all fees will remain the same except Red Cross certification for lifeguards, which increased slightly. Welliver added pool lane and diving board rental to the list of fees, at $10 per lane Monday through Friday and $15 on weekends for pool lanes and $10 per board per day for the diving boards. The commissioners also approved Dustin Drew, Pete Geis, Haley Geyer and Chris Ziegler to three-year terms on the county Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
- Approved more than $190,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding for rent, mortgage and utility assistance related to the coronavirus pandemic for residents in Jefferson, Penn, Slippery Rock and Summit townships. Jefferson is allotted $48,130, Penn $47,178, Slippery Rock $48,372 and Summit $46,767.
- Approved advertising for bids for park projects in Harrisville, Slippery Rock Township, Jefferson Township and Penn Township.
- Approved the appointment of Melissa Bonicky to the board of directors at the county Federated Library System. She replaces Joyce Yasko, whose term expired at the end of 2020. Bonicky is a teacher at Evans City Elementary School and volunteers with several community organizations.
- Approved the appointment of Lawrence Krause to the Housing and Redevelopment Authority Board. Krause, a resident at Cliffside Apartments, represents residents of county housing facilities per Housing and Urban Development requirements.
- Approved a measure to allow Diane Marburger, county treasurer, to act as tax collector for Karns City. Borough council was unable to find a candidate to fill the position.
Adams Township supervisors approved a number of items Monday night:- Accepting a low bid of $6,138 from Fence Maintenance Service to complete dugouts on both the Rotary and Kiwanis fields.- $64,211 for a new police department patrol car, budgeted for this year.- A $409,720 bond release for Gabriel's Crest.
