No injuries in Parker Twp. one-car crash
No one was injured, but traffic was slowed Tuesday morning after a one-vehicle crash on Route 268 in Parker Township, authorities said.
The wreck occurred about 5:15 a.m. when a man believed to be in his 30s lost control of his Chevrolet Silverado and struck a tree near Bear Creek Farms. State police are investigating, but an accident report was not immediately available.
The pickup truck appeared to be traveling north when it crossed over the southbound lane and went off the road, emergency crews said. The truck ricocheted off the tree and ended back on the road, also known as Kittanning Pike, blocking the northbound lane.
The driver was out of his vehicle before crews arrived, said Steve Emery, chief of the Bruin Volunteer Fire Department. The pickup's air bags deployed.
Emery said the truck was “totaled” and it had to be towed.
Firefighters kept the southbound lane opened for alternating traffic in both directions. Emery noted that the road was wet, but not icy.
The road reopened for normal traffic around 7 a.m.
