Drivers of 2 vehicles hurt in Rt. 228 wreck

A tow truck hauls away a car damaged in a two-vehicle crash at Route 228 and Mars-Valencia Road in Adams Township about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The driver of this car and the driver of a pickup truck both suffered minor injuries.

ADAMS TWP — Both drivers were injured Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at Route 228 and Mars-Valencia Road in the township, authorities said.

The wreck occurred around 12:30 p.m. when a Ford F-150 pickup truck struck a Toyota Corolla, according to Adams Township police.

A man believed to be in his 70s was driving the truck northbound on Mars-Valencia Road and turning onto Route 228 west, an officer said, when he hit a car that was stopped at the traffic light headed east on Route 228.

The man and the other driver, a woman who was believed to be in her 30s or 40s, suffered apparent minor injuries.The initial 911 call came in as vehicle entrapment, but police said the drivers, who were alone in their vehicles, were able to get out on their own.A Quality Ambulance crew tended to both drivers. The pickup and the car were later towed.Police are investigating, but an accident report was not immediately available. The Adams Area Fire District also assisted at the scene.
