Maier's 20 not enough in loss

Butler girls fall to NA; Brooks scores 35 for SV

Makenna Maier scored 20 points, but the Butler girls basketball team lost its season-opener, 75-47, on the road at North Allegheny Friday night.

Sarayne Forbes added 10 for the Golden Tornado.

Butler will host Pine-Richland Monday.

Emma Johns netted 19 points for Karns City with Rosie Carden adding 12.

Reegan Malis rolled a 590 series with a high game of 207 as the Butler girls swept Shaler, 7-0.

Butler improved to 3-0.

Rocco Rice led the boys to a 7-0 win over Shaler with a 623 series and a high game of 256.

Alex Ekas added a 591 series for the Golden Tornado.

The Butler boys are 2-1.

Freeport's boys edged Apollo-Ridge, 4-3, as Mark Livingston rolled a 691 series with games of 275, 214 and 202.

The Yellowjacket girls rolled to a 7-0 victory. Julia Cummings had a 645 series with games of 225, 214 and 206. Mackensie Livingston had a 203 game and 553 series, Samantha Lynn a 554 series, Amber Cepec a 203 game and 541 series.
