Adams Twp. allows some sick days to roll over
ADAMS TWP — Supervisors voted Monday to give nonuniform employees the option to roll over remaining 2020 sick days to 2021, in lieu of getting paid for not taking them.
Gary Peaco, township manager, explained considering the risks associated with COVID-19, this may help employees receive supplemental pay if they contract the virus this year and miss weeks of work.
“There's only a few (eligible),” Peaco said.
This practice wasn't previously in place. The arrangement could be revisited each year, according to Supervisor Russell Ford.
Police and public works employees already can roll over sick days, per their respective contracts.
During the meeting, Ford was retained as chairman.
Three members of the township planning commission were up for re-approval. The supervisors voted to retain Jeffrey McCormick, Martin McKinney and Marilyn Watson.
Ford said McKinney, who is manager of traffic communications for Cranberry Township during the day, is an asset.
Supervisors Ron Shemela and Darryl Brandon were approved to the township water authority board.
The supervisors enacted 2021 taxes Monday night. There are no increases and have been no increases since 1994 or 1995, according to Ford.
The millage rate remains 3.75 mills. Occupation tax is $10. Real estate transfer tax is .5% and earned income tax is 0.5%.
