Man arrested after car crash

CLINTON TWP — After responding to a one-vehicle crash on Victory Road Monday, state police arrested a Pittsburgh man for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. to the accident, with Butler County 911 dispatchers initially alerting them about an unresponsive person in the vehicle.

Saxonburg Fire and EMS departments arrived and found an unresponsive man in the driver's seat of a Hyundai sedan that had been driven off the road into a wooded area south of Victory Road, near its intersection with Spring Valley Road.

Firefighters said the driver, later identified by state police as Kirby Hickman, 31, of Pittsburgh, became responsive as they approached and then became combative and tried to put the car in reverse. Firefighters said they were able to calm the man until police arrived.

Traffic was restricted to one lane around the crash until a tow truck removed the vehicle around 7:30 p.m.

Hickman was evaluated at the scene and determined to have no injuries before police placed him under arrest.

Police took him to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood draw to determine if he was under the influence of anything and charges are pending after the results of that test.
