Local student gets $130,000 award
ZELIENOPLE — Seneca Valley High School senior Anna Paul of Zelienople was awarded an academic scholarship worth $130,560 to Thiel College during a surprise presentation on Dec. 10 at Calvin Presbyterian Church.
Anna, the daughter of David and Jennifer Paul, was one of five winners for 2020 from among a field of 140 applicants. She won the scholarship based on her performance at a scholarship competition in November.
She plans to major in Thiel College's new five-year physician assistant program. Students in the program graduate with bachelor's and master's degrees in five years.
“I am super excited to have this opportunity and so grateful for everything Thiel has given me,” Anna said. “I am so excited to attend Thiel next fall.”
Anna is a member of her church youth group, show choir, Believe It or Not I Care, Project Unify and Circle of Friends.
In the community, she has gone on church mission trips and volunteered at the Methodist Women's Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
The college in Greenville, Mercer County, offers 60 majors and minors.
