BASD recognizes students in Stand Tall drug free program
The Butler Area School District recognized several students for living drug-free lives through its “Stand Tall” program.
The Stand Tall Club promotes a drug-free school. Anyone is eligible to participate by signing a waiver giving the right to be drug-tested randomly.
High school students Paige Miller and Haley Stein received $25 gift cards sponsored by Stand Tall.
In addition, the district conducts random drug tests every two weeks for students who participate in sports or have campus parking permits. In December, Butler County Against Heroin, under the Stand Tall anti-drug program, began donating $25 gift cards to the intermediate and senior high school to reward students for choosing a positive healthy lifestyle.
Every two weeks, students that have passed the random drug tests are placed in a drawing. One student wins a gift card and a Stand Tall T-shirt. Other recent winners are senior high students Kendall McLister, Evan McDonald, Remy Pardo and Peyton Holt and intermediate high students Ryan Felitsky and Lindsay Gavula.
