66 new cases in county but no added deaths reported
After seven straight days of recorded COVID-19 deaths in Butler County, the state Department of Health reported zero Tuesday in the county.
Before Tuesday, the county had added 14 deaths to its COVID-19 toll since Nov. 10. The county's current total stands at 46.
The county also added 66 new confirmed cases Tuesday with a new total of 2,293 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The county has averaged about 47 new confirmed cases per day over the past two weeks. The county averaged about 16 new confirmed cases per day through the month of October.
In a news release Tuesday, state Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine encouraged people to continue wearing a mask, washing their hands and staying apart from one another. She also said people should download the COVID Alert PA phone application if they haven't already.
“We must remain united in stopping COVID-19,” she said. “If you test positive, please answer the call of the case reviewer and provide information that can help protect others. It's the selfless, right thing to do.”
