Man charged with stalking in Butler Twp.
A 26-year-old man faces two separate stalking offenses in Butler Township that he was charged in as many weeks.
James Ehlinger of Monongahela, Pa., was charged Oct. 21 with stalking, harassment and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors. In the second case, he was charged Oct. 27 with stalking, propulsion of missiles, disorderly conduct and numerous summary offenses.
In the first case against Ehlinger, police said a woman who was at Point Plaza for an eye care appointment accused Ehlinger of masturbating in his car. Ehlinger was parked in front of the woman and she said he stared at her through his rear view mirror.
Then, Ehlinger abruptly backed up his car and nearly hit the woman's car, according to police reports. Ehlinger reportedly said, “What are you doing here?” multiple times to her.
The woman decided to drive away and Ehlinger allegedly followed her in his car. The alleged pursuit continued until the woman drove into the state police barracks on New Castle Road.
Investigating officers checked surveillance video from the parking lot and said they were able to confirm the woman's report that she was followed.
The next day the woman identified Ehlinger in a photo line up.
In Ehlinger's second case, Butler Township officers responded to Cooledge street for reports that a man was blocking traffic, chasing a female and throwing objects at the vehicle, according to a news release from the department. Police charged Ehlinger after responding.
Ehlinger does not appear to have a lawyer.
