Black Lives Matter essay subject
A local anti-racism focus group, sponsored by the Butler Clergy Network, is holding an essay contest for local youths, ages 8 to 18, in the Butler Area School District or those who live within a 25-mile radius of Butler.
The essays should be no longer than 350 words and address the theme “Why Black Lives Matter.” A cash award of $50 will be given to the winning essay in the 8 to 12 age group and the winning author in the 13 to 18 age group.
The essays can be typed, printed or written in cursive as long as they are legible.
All entries must be postmarked by Nov. 28 and mailed to Black Lives Matter, in care of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 218 E. Jefferson St. Butler, PA. 16001.
All submissions must include a note with the following: author’s name, address, full birth date and signature from a parent or guardian acknowledging the essay may be published in various outlets. Winners will be notified by mail.
