One injured in crash at Point Plaza

Butler firefighters respond to a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on New Castle Road at Point Plaza in Butler Township. One person was injured in the early morning collision.

BUTLER TWP — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash that slowed traffic Tuesday morning on New Castle Road at Point Plaza in the township.

The wreck occurred around 7 a.m. when a Nissan Rogue driven by Casey Bohr, 22, of Harmony collided with a Ford F-250 driven by Timothy Schrecongost, 58, of Chicora at the traffic light in front of the shopping plaza, authorities said.

Bohr suffered an apparent minor arm injury. Butler Township police said she was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released.

According to a police report, Schrecongost was traveling west on New Castle Road and was attempting to make a left turn into the plaza, and Bohr was eastbound.

Schrecongost pulled in front of Bohr's SUV, police said, and his pickup was struck on the driver's side.

The Butler Fire Department, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and Butler Ambulance Service assisted police. Both vehicles had to be towed.

About one half-hour before the crash, township police were called for a two-vehicle wreck at Route 68 and South Duffy Road. An accident report for that wreck was not available Tuesday.
